In a Delaware neighborhood, surveillance cameras captured images of at least two masked individuals knocking on doors late Friday night. One of the men appeared to be armed with a rifle, according to local police.
The New Castle County Police Department released images showing a man in a tactical vest holding what seems to be a rifle as he knocked on a home’s front door. Another image depicted a different individual approaching a door while wearing a black vest and mask.
Police are actively investigating reports that these masked individuals were knocking on residents’ doors while allegedly armed. Officers were called to the 1200 block of Canvasback Drive in Mallard Pointe, New Castle, around 10:50 p.m. due to a report of a suspicious person.
Residents reported seeing a man in a black hockey-style mask and tactical vest, appearing to carry a rifle, as he approached homes. After knocking on doors, the man reportedly fled the scene.
Authorities mentioned that four men were observed heading eastbound on Mallard Road, with two traveling by bicycle and two on foot. Despite a search involving officers and a K-9 unit, the individuals were not located.
While it remains unconfirmed whether the weapons were real firearms, police suspect they may have been airsoft guns. The investigation continues as the authorities gather more details.
