Shooting Incident in Twin Falls
Seven individuals were injured in a mass shooting at a fast food restaurant in Twin Falls, Idaho. Among the wounded were a driver charging his electric taxi and a former law enforcement officer who tried to assist during the event. Sadly, three people were killed.
The attack occurred at a newly opened In-N-Out Burger restaurant and ended when the gunman took his own life. Authorities identified the assailant as Chad Williams, a 24-year-old whose motive for the attack remains uncertain.
Background and Investigation
Police are actively investigating the incident and have not found any previous criminal charges against Williams in Idaho or Arizona, where he previously lived. Elijah Moseley, a former dorm neighbor of Williams, described him as an introvert and a calm individual, expressing shock at the incident.
Detectives assure that Williams acted alone, with his family cooperating fully with the police investigation.
Impact on Victims
Two victims were treated and released from the hospital, while three are in stable condition, and two others are in critical condition.
During the attack, an off-duty state trooper and a civilian intervened, diverting the gunman from the restaurant. Authorities have not yet provided the names of those involved.
Twin Falls officials are still working to notify the next of kin.
Community Response
A vigil is scheduled at Twin Falls City Park to honor those affected. The attack claimed the lives of an In-N-Out employee among others, as confirmed by the chain’s owner in a statement.
Christopher Claunch was one of the victims. He was dedicated to helping individuals recover from alcohol abuse and had positively impacted many lives.
Reactions from Friends and Family
Marcus Scott, via Facebook, shared that his son, a former law enforcement officer, was shot while assisting others during the attack. He is recovering from critical injuries.
Terry Dudley, a taxi driver, was injured while in the vicinity of the restaurant. He was unable to reach emergency services and had to call a friend for help. Dudley was transferred to a hospital in Boise for treatment.
Gunman’s Background
Chad Williams attended the College of Southern Idaho, where he participated in student government before being impeached for lack of involvement. He attended the college from August 2022 to December 2023 but did not graduate.
