Matthew Stafford has been making headlines recently with his remarkable achievements in the NFL. In the 2025 season, Stafford secured his first NFL MVP award, a testament to his skill and perseverance.
On a memorable Sunday night, during the Los Angeles Rams game against the Denver Broncos in Week 3, Stafford achieved a historic milestone. He became the first player in NFL history to pass for 20,000 yards with multiple teams. His career stats now include 45,109 yards with the Detroit Lions and 20,000 with the Rams, according to ESPN Insights.
Despite the success, Stafford’s game had a bittersweet moment. He threw a pick-six in the fourth quarter, marking the 33rd of his career—the most in NFL history, surpassing Brett Favre’s record of 32.
Rams head coach Sean McVay expressed confidence in Stafford’s growth, believing his performance improves with age. Stafford shared insights into his playing style, acknowledging his reliance on the talent around him. He mentioned, “I’m not Lamar Jackson or Josh Allen, who can make creative plays with their legs. I’m fortunate to have great players and a head coach who puts us in a good position to succeed.”
With aspirations of securing a second Super Bowl win with the Rams this season, Stafford continues to play with confidence and trust in his teammates. While he may not surpass his yardage record with the Lions, there’s potential for more accolades as his career progresses.
