During the Las Vegas Raiders’ practice in Henderson, Nevada, star pass rusher Maxx Crosby had an altercation with quarterback Kirk Cousins. Crosby, known for his aggressive style, hit Cousins’ arm twice, provoking a reaction from the usually calm quarterback.
Cousins confronted Crosby, grabbing his jersey and exchanging words before teammates intervened and separated them. The incident occurred as the team prepared for the upcoming season.
After the confrontation, Cousins continued the drive with the first-team offense, while Crosby was sidelined. Head coach Klint Kubiak downplayed the scuffle, viewing it as a typical training camp occurrence.
“Those are two leaders of our team going at it, so that is part of camp,” Kubiak said. “Obviously, if you fight in a game and throw a punch, then you’re out of the game. So, we’ve got to be smart and treat it like a game.”
Michael Mayer, the Raiders’ tight end, commended Cousins for his competitive spirit but advised against physical altercations. Mayer recognized Cousins as a leader with an edge, insisting it’s important to stand up for oneself under control. Cousins remains a pivotal figure for the team, especially with their recent draft pick, Fernando Mendoza.
The Raiders are gearing up for their season opener against the Miami Dolphins in Week 1, and Cousins is expected to lead as the starting quarterback.
