Meghan Markle recently provided fans with a look into her family’s new chapter in the United Kingdom. This comes after she and Prince Harry made their notable return to England. On Sunday, the Duchess of Sussex shared a video on Instagram depicting the couple enjoying the English countryside with their children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, just weeks after arriving in Britain.
The video begins with Markle, 45, and Harry, 41, walking hand-in-hand outdoors. It then shifts to intimate family moments, showcasing Lilibet riding a bicycle while Archie runs nearby. There’s also footage of Harry fishing with the kids from a boat.
The glimpse into their life in England comes after royal experts questioned if this return signifies a permanent move or an effort to maintain connections across the Atlantic.
Harry and Markle returned to the UK with their children in August. They plan to keep their home in Montecito, California, while also establishing a base in Britain. Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield suggested this arrangement allows them to enjoy the benefits of both locations. She told Fox News Digital that they might be seeking access to Britain and the perks of Harry’s royal identity, while still enjoying the freedom and commercial opportunities of life outside the UK.
The arrangement is reminiscent of a “half-in, half-out” royal role that Queen Elizabeth II previously rejected. This comes amid plans to avoid public comments or pictures that could divert attention from Prince George’s start at Eton this month. The Sussexes’ broader UK plans lead to speculation about whether their return is permanent or a temporary exploration.
Helena Chard, a British broadcaster, indicated that Harry and Meghan are keeping their options open. She mentioned that while things haven’t gone according to plan, maintaining relevance is key. Returning to the UK and mingling with the British Royal Family could bolster their public image and security arrangements.
Chard also mentioned that enrolling their children in a British school could be beneficial. It would not only help their educational pursuits but also aid in securing desired security measures.
Harry and Meghan moved to California in 2020 after stepping back as senior royals. Since then, they have been engaged in various projects, including a Netflix series and Harry’s memoir “Spare.” The couple continues to explore opportunities outside the traditional royal framework.
