Officials have reported that the suspect involved in a Midland shooting has been killed. Midland Mayor Lori Blong confirmed that the incident resulted in at least one fatality and injuries to 11 others. The shooting began Friday morning and continued for about two hours. It started around 8 a.m. in one part of the city and ended near a veterinary hospital.

Eyewitness Andrea Mendias, who works at a nearby automobile body shop, described hearing around 40 shots. Her video captured police officers exiting an armored vehicle. Authorities also used robots in the operation. Mayor Blong stated, “Officers are containing the situation. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and our officers.”

The Midland Police Department shared on social media that officers responded to an active shooter on the 4600 block of West Wall Street. They reported hearing gunfire and quickly secured the area. Armored units and partner agencies were deployed for assistance. Efforts to resolve the standoff were ongoing until the suspect was neutralized.
