Mike Lindell has announced his departure from the position of CEO at MyPillow to concentrate fully on his campaign to become governor of Minnesota. The founder of the pillow company and long-time supporter of Donald Trump made this decision public on Tuesday. After more than 20 years at the helm, Lindell plans to focus exclusively on the gubernatorial race.
Despite stepping down, Lindell will retain a minority ownership stake in MyPillow and remain on its board of directors. This change comes shortly before the Republican primary in Minnesota, with early voting already taking place ahead of the August 11 election.

In a statement on X, Lindell emphasized his commitment to his campaign, stating that Minnesota deserves his full attention. He expressed enthusiasm for engaging with voters and focusing on the state’s needs.
Lindell further explained in a company statement, “After 22 years of leading MyPillow, I know the company is ready for its next chapter and I know Minnesota cannot wait.” He reiterated that this decision is about prioritizing Minnesota and stepping forward to serve.
James Furlong, who served as a director at MyPillow from 2004 to 2019, will take over as CEO.

Lindell founded MyPillow in 2004, turning it into a nationally recognized brand through television advertising and direct marketing strategies. Beyond business, he became a notable supporter of Trump, maintaining involvement in Republican politics.
Lindell began his campaign for Minnesota governor earlier this year. He is among the leading Republicans in the race, benefiting from an endorsement by the former president. However, he faces rivals like Kendall Qualls and Minnesota House Speaker Lisa Demuth.

If victorious in the Republican primary, Lindell could confront Democratic Sen. Amy Klobuchar, regarded as a frontrunner for the November election.
