The Wisconsin brewery known for its previous uproar about free beer upon the death of former President Donald Trump faces new criticism. Minocqua Brewing Company announced a ‘half-price beer day’ plan for when Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., passes away. This move continues the brewery’s controversial approach to promotions.
On Instagram, Minocqua Brewing stated they would slash beer prices in half on the occasion of McConnell’s demise. The brewery blamed McConnell, a long-time Kentucky Republican, for contributing to many of America’s issues. They wrote, ‘Our logic tells us we should expect news that Rigor Tortoise passed about two months ago.’
Recently, scrutiny on McConnell heightened due to his extended absence following a fall. The Office of the Attending Physician confirmed McConnell remains unfit to return to Senate duties. This absence fuels controversies surrounding Kentucky’s leadership decisions.
‘Why today?’ queried the brewery, citing that Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear had not called a special election, leaving McConnell’s seat vacant until January.
The brewery’s announcement affirmed their commitment to their previous promise of beer discounts upon McConnell’s death, labeling it ‘half-price beer day.’ McConnell, 84, has missed over a month in the Senate post-hospitalization for his fall.
Kentucky’s Governor, Andy Beshear, demanded proof of McConnell’s fitness to serve or his resignation. In a letter obtained by Fox News Digital, Beshear pressed McConnell for direct communication with Kentucky residents.
The Minocqua Brewing Company continues to be under fire, with its promotion deemed distasteful by some. Their promotion remains distinct from ‘free beer day,’ which they reserve for ‘someone more special.’
Alongside announcing the event, the brewery created ‘half-price beer day’ T-shirts, urging supporters to wear them when the day comes. The brewing company previously alluded to offering free beer if Trump were harmed, despite not naming him directly.
Currently, the brewery challenges potential permit revocation. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported the Wisconsin Department of Revenue’s notice about revoking Minocqua Brewing’s permit due to allegedly unauthorized beer transport from Illinois. The owner, Kirk Bangstad, sees this action as excessive and argues the violations do not justify closing his business.
The alcohol permit situation remains pending as Minocqua Brewing appeals administratively, delaying any final permit decision. Beyond brewing, Bangstad also founded the Minocqua Brewing Company SuperPAC. The PAC focuses on removing Republican officials linked to election deception and COVID-19 harm.
Minocqua Brewing’s office, along with Governor Beshear and Senator McConnell, did not promptly respond to queries from Fox News Digital.
