Morgan Fairchild credits her sense of humor with saving her life. The actress, famous for roles on “Flamingo Road” and “Falcon Crest,” co-hosts a new podcast, “2 B—-es From Texas,” with her sister Cathryn Hartt. They share stories from showbiz and interview celebrity friends.
During a recent episode, Fairchild recounted being abducted in New York City before her rise to fame. While it was a serious situation, she joked her way to freedom.
I was a shy kid, but I was damned if I was going to let them see how scared I was,Fairchild said.
At 20, Fairchild visited her sister in 1970 when two men seized her on a street in broad daylight. Despite bystanders’ presence, no one helped. The men pushed her into a waiting cab, and she overheard plans to harm her. She responded with wisecracks, which made them laugh and eventually led them to release her.
Fairchild reflected on the ordeal saying, You don’t think something like this could ever happen to you.
The experience taught her to stay vigilant of her surroundings.
She advises women to be mindful, emphasizing that distractions like phone use increase vulnerability. Never walk and text,
she warned, urging women not to assume safety.
