Musician and Family Tragically Killed Outside Mexico City

A tragic incident occurred outside Mexico City, resulting in the deaths of a musician, his pregnant wife, their 3-year-old daughter, and the family’s nanny. These victims were discovered in a residential building in the Zona Esmeralda area of Atizapán de Zaragoza. Despite the horror, a 6-year-old boy was found unharmed.

The State of Mexico Prosecutor’s Office revealed the victims included a 38-year-old music producer and composer identified by the initials J.S.M.O., his 35-year-old pregnant wife, their young daughter, and a 21-year-old woman. The prosecutor’s statement noted that two victims were found bound. All suffered gunshot wounds, with the fourth victim shot in the back.

Mexican artist Jonathan Meléndez, part of the band Camilo Séptimo, was among the deceased. His identification was confirmed, and the band mourned his loss in a statement on Instagram, expressing love and gratitude for him.

Authorities suspect the murders happened on Tuesday, September 1, between 5:30 p.m. and 7:40 p.m. Two men, Diego Sebastián ‘N’ and Gerardo ‘N,’ have been arrested in connection with this crime.

The State of Mexico Prosecutor’s Office has not yet announced a motive. However, they describe one suspect as an ‘associate of J.S.M.O.’ The police mentioned in a statement that one suspect may have exploited a trust relationship to access the residence.

Omar García Harfuch, Mexico’s secretary of security and citizen protection, reported swift action in apprehending the suspects. He stated that the suspects would face justice for their crimes.
