A North Carolina woman, Elizabeth “Liz” Waddell, age 43, went missing in Grenada on July 22 during a girls’ trip. Her husband, Cailen Waddell, believes she may have drowned. Liz was last seen by jet skiers in the ocean, who attempted to convince her to leave the water.
According to an update on FindLiz.com, jet skiers spoke to Liz for several minutes, urging her to come onto a jet ski. She reportedly replied, “I’m a good swimmer,” and gave a thumbs up. Cailen has been using the website, created by her family, to share information regarding her case.
“I am grieving her absence and the loss of her in my daily life right now, understanding that it is incredibly likely she is gone and hoping that the investigation will offer more clarity as to what happened,” Waddell stated.
The incident supposedly occurred around 5:30 p.m. on July 22, leading to her being reported missing to the Royal Grenada Police Force. Cailen traveled to Grenada to aid in the search efforts two days later. Despite their efforts with drones, dive teams, and dogs, law enforcement found no trace of Liz.
Surveillance footage shows a person resembling Liz approaching the water near a pool, and later, appearing to jump from a dock into the water, swimming out of view. The local police continue to treat her case as a missing person investigation.
Cailen Waddell holds on to hope, expressing that if Liz reappeared, he would immediately travel to bring her home.
