Ohio Couple Arrested for Alleged Assault on Cruise Ship

An Ohio couple was arrested after they allegedly forced their way into a family’s cruise ship cabin, attacking two adults and a 9-year-old child. The incident occurred after the couple was asked to lower the volume of their argument.

Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey reported that Gannon Jacox, 29, and Brooklyn Hicks, 28, were taken into custody when the ship returned to Port Canaveral in Florida. The disturbance began when the couple, who had been drinking, got into a loud argument. A passenger’s request for them to quiet down led to the confrontation.

Charges and Incident Details

Brooklyn Hicks faces charges of burglary with battery and battery-touch/strike. According to Ivey, Hicks confronted a passenger while Jacox filmed the encounter on his cellphone and encouraged Hicks to attack.

The couple reportedly barged into the cabin where a child was present. During the altercation, Jacox allegedly hit all three individuals while Hicks threw punches. Sheriff Ivey noted that none of the victims sustained serious injuries.

Jacox received charges of burglary with battery and child abuse without great bodily harm. He incurred an eye injury during the scuffle, possibly from one of the victims or Hicks during the melee.

Unidentified Cruise Ship

Authorities have not disclosed the specific cruise ship involved. Four ships were docked at Port Canaveral on that day, including vessels from Royal Caribbean, Disney, and Carnival Cruise Lines. It remains unclear which ship had the incident.

Sheriff Ivey warned against excessive drinking and unruly behavior, especially in public spaces. He advised that if individuals cannot handle alcohol, they should avoid public disturbances to prevent harm to others, including children.
