Philadelphia Eagles’ Struggles Continue in Loss to Washington Commanders

The Philadelphia Eagles face continued challenges. Despite an early 10-0 lead, they gave up 27 unanswered points to the Washington Commanders, resulting in a 27-10 defeat on Sunday Night Football.

Early Momentum Fades

Philadelphia had a promising start with a 40-yard field goal by Jake Elliott, followed by a three-yard touchdown run from Saquon Barkley after a turnover from Washington. But the offense stalled after this, and Washington capitalized.

Washington’s success began with a 56-yard field goal by Drew Stevens late in the first quarter. Jayden Daniels connected with Stefon Diggs for an eight-yard touchdown in the second quarter. Stevens then scored with a 39-yard field goal, pushing Washington ahead 13-10 at halftime.

Jalen Hurts Out, Philadelphia Struggles

The Eagles struggled without quarterback Jalen Hurts. Replacement Tanner McKee had a difficult outing, holding onto the ball too long and turning it over twice. Washington’s defense limited Barkley to just 30 yards on 13 carries.

Jalen Hurts reportedly to miss the rest of the NFL season due to blood clots found in his lungs.

Washington Takes Control

The game turned in the third quarter with Dorance Armstrong strip-sacking McKee. Charles Omenihu recovered the fumble, which led to a 53-yard pass from Daniels to Treylon Burks. This set up another field goal from Stevens.

Philadelphia’s struggles continued into the fourth quarter. A potential 36-yard field goal by Elliott was negated by a penalty, and the subsequent attempt missed.

Washington Seals the Victory

Stevens added a 42-yard field goal late in the game. Rasul Douglas intercepted McKee’s next pass. Rachaad White then had a crucial 33-yard run, scoring shortly after. Austin Ekeler completed a two-point conversion, finalizing Washington’s 27-10 victory.

Daniels finished with 217 passing yards and one touchdown. Philadelphia’s losing streak extended to six games, leaving them at 2-6. Washington improved their record to 2-4-1, climbing in the NFC East standings.
