Strained relations between Israel and the Trump administration have raised concerns within U.S. spy agencies. They believe that continued Israeli attacks in Lebanon could jeopardize a tentative peace deal between the U.S. and Iran.
On a recent day in the southern Lebanese village of Qlaileh, a mother and her son are seen walking near a destroyed home. This village has seen its fair share of turmoil. Heavy Israeli airstrikes overnight forced many residents who had just returned earlier in the week to flee to safer areas once again.
U.S. intelligence agencies caution that these Israeli strikes could further disrupt U.S.-Iran talks. Israel has been largely excluded from these discussions, focusing on striking Hezbollah in Lebanon.
