President Trump’s Visit to the Presidents Cup Sparks Reactions

President Trump attended the final day of the Presidents Cup at Medinah Country Club as the honorary chairman, attracting both supporters and protesters.

His visit began with a flyover above the club before the players commenced their game. Speaking briefly at O’Hare Airport, he emphasized the tournament’s high-level golf.

A group of protesters and supporters clashed outside the event. Allison Galvan of the Grito Latino Addison Community Center voiced opposition, while Terry Newsome expressed support for Trump.

Local police monitored the situation, ensuring tension remained controlled. Inside, Trump remained at the first tee box, simplifying security efforts.

Security included SWAT and TSA-style screening. Carolyn Friedrichs noted the security was reasonable despite the presence of Secret Service.

Trump addressed the crowd at the first tee, showcasing his commitment to the country’s progress. After his remarks, he engaged with players by shaking hands.

No use of a suite built with protective glass was reported, even though it was prepared for Trump’s visit.

The energy was high as the tournament concluded. This marked Trump’s first public appearance in Chicago since the 2024 election, with months of preparation involved.

The president plans to stay for the closing ceremonies, with Air Force One departing later that evening.
