Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Return to Britain: Details and Implications

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have returned to Britain with their children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, marking their first visit in six years after relocating to California. Their flight from Van Nuys, California, landed at Birmingham International Airport around noon on Wednesday, as reported by The Associated Press.

The couple, who have chosen a private life away from royal duties, arrived without visible police protection, relying instead on their security team, according to The Telegraph. Attempts to reach out to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s team for comments have been made by Fox News Digital.

Their return coincides with the announcement of an “extended” stay in Britain. Archie and Lilibet are set to attend British schools starting September. Although Harry and Meghan have not disclosed their exact location, they plan to reside in a private non-royal residence outside London while keeping their California home.

Despite their presence in Britain, the Sussexes remain nonworking royals, indicating no official return to royal duties. King Charles III and Prince William have been informed of their move. It has been reported that King Charles welcomes this opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren, while Prince William and Princess Kate have expressed concerns about the Sussexes’ extended stay. Kinsey Schofield, host of “Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered,” highlighted that William was reportedly surprised by the move.

Previously, Harry expressed reluctance to bring his family back to Britain due to security concerns. In a May 2025 interview with the BBC, Harry stated his inability to envision returning with Meghan and their children until security measures are addressed.

Kensington Palace has declined to comment on private family matters, maintaining their stance on family privacy.
