Rabbi Steve Leder, who served as a technical advisor for the Netflix series Nobody Wants This, criticized actor Adam Brody for describing Israel’s actions in Gaza as “genocide.” Leder responded to Brody’s comments in a video addressed to the actor via Instagram. He expressed disappointment in Brody’s use of the term “genocide” and described the remarks as “ignorant.”
Leder stated, “Your pronouncement the other day about a ‘genocide in Gaza’ was truly shocking.” He pointed out that there are actual genocides happening in other parts of the world but argued this was not the case in Gaza. Leder urged Brody to understand the meaning of the words he uses, emphasizing that flippantly using words like “genocide” is inappropriate.
Brody, who portrays a rabbi in the series, shared his views in an interview with GQ magazine, where he associated Israel’s actions in Gaza with genocide. He expressed support for a “free Palestine” and criticized current policies.
Fox News Digital sought a comment from Brody’s representatives but did not receive an immediate response.
Rabbi Yaakov Menken, executive vice president of the Coalition for Jewish Values, also tagged Brody as “ignorant” in his comments on Israel’s actions. Menken highlighted the irrational view of Jews as a threat, contrasting it with the actions of Hamas.
Menken added, “As even photographer Motaz Azaiza now admits, Hamas could have ended the conflict in Gaza at any moment simply by releasing the hostages.” He pointed out that in genuine genocides, victims do not control such outcomes.
The Israeli-American Council echoed these sentiments, calling Brody’s statement ignorant and harmful. They underlined the dangers of spreading misinformation, illustrating it with a recent incident where Israeli passengers narrowly avoided a potential terrorist attack on a flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv.
