The Dallas Cowboys and Baltimore Ravens seemed destined for overtime in a recent game in Rio de Janeiro. Brandon Aubrey tied the game with a kick late in the fourth quarter. Despite this, the Ravens had different intentions.
With only seven seconds left, Lamar Jackson made a pivotal 27-yard pass to Zay Flowers. The team quickly called a timeout with a single second to spare. Tyler Loop then successfully hit a 56-yard field goal, sealing a surprising 34-31 win for the Ravens.
NFL analyst Rex Ryan criticized the Cowboys’ defense for their part in the loss. He stated, “I can’t let Dallas off the hook like this. They’re still the worst two-minute defense in the National Football League, by far. They don’t know how to win a game. They stink.”
Quarterback Dak Prescott took responsibility for the Cowboys’ loss, shifting attention away from the defense. On the team’s website, Prescott shared his feelings: “Frustrated. Frustrated as hell. Excuse me. Embarrassed. We don’t call ourselves the best offense, GOTI, and get down to the one-yard line and don’t put it in. Yeah, it just sucks. Not a lot of words or full explanation. Defense shouldn’t even have been in that position. Those guys were over there saying ‘it’s on us,’ absolutely not. We have to put the game away, period.”
The Cowboys are now 1-2 and are set to play the Houston Texans in Week 4.
