Rosie O’Donnell Opens Up About Her Facelift and Thoughts on Cosmetic Surgery

Rosie O’Donnell recently spoke about her decision to undergo a facelift, her reasons for it, and her views on future cosmetic procedures. During her appearance at the 2026 Tony Awards, the 64-year-old comedian shared insights into her choice and whether she would consider further surgeries.

O’Donnell revealed that her weight loss, due to managing diabetes and using Mounjaro, led to significant changes in her appearance, particularly in the form of excess skin around her face. She decided on the facelift to remove two lines that often made her appear upset.

“Authenticity is the goal in these days and times, and people are lying about everything all day to the American public. It’s very depressing to me and unsettling,” O’Donnell explained. “I wanted to be truthful and say all the complicated feelings I had about it.”

She expressed a desire to be transparent about her journey, preferring honesty over having tabloids expose her decision.

Despite having moral reservations about such procedures in the past, her weight loss journey prompted a change in perspective. O’Donnell grappled with guilt and shame, which she discussed in a Substack essay, following both her decision and the influence it might have on those who look up to her.

Her decision faced opposition from her 13-year-old child, Clay, who challenged her choice, emphasizing the importance of self-acceptance. Their objections caused O’Donnell to delay the procedure while reflecting on its implications.

Ultimately, she realized that teaching her child about freedom over one’s body meant acknowledging that her decision was hers alone. After the facelift, she felt more like herself, retaining her identity but with a refreshed appearance.

O’Donnell emphasized that her intention was not to hide the procedure. She wanted to come clean about it, although it stirred feelings of privilege and the excess that comes with it. She reflected on the cost of the surgery, noting it was more expensive than any car she ever bought.

As she embraces her role as a mother at 64, O’Donnell is grateful for her life, choices, and the opportunity to use her voice. Her words resonate with those who share her journey of self-acceptance and personal freedom.
