Vladimir Solovyov’s Provocative Remarks
Russian broadcaster Vladimir Solovyov, known for his confrontational rhetoric, has made statements threatening NATO during a segment of his show Full Contact. These comments were deemed radical even by his usually tolerant Kremlin handlers, according to Russia watcher Julia Davis.
Davis, who monitors Russian state media via Russia Media Monitor, shared a clip of Solovyov’s show on the platform X. Angered by Norway’s seizure of a Russian ship in the Svalbard archipelago at the behest of Ukrainian energy firm Naftogaz, Solovyov advocated for severing ties with Germany and the EU, calling for Russian troops to be sent to Norway’s border. His statement, “We spit on NATO, bomb the hell out of it,” highlights the aggressive tone.
The three-hour broadcast was aired live but not posted on state media websites; Davis mentioned that sections were deleted likely due to their contentious nature. The broadcast was still accessible on the Russian media site yapolitic.ru, which typically hosts other state broadcasts. Newsweek attempted to contact Solovyov Live for comments.

Comments on Hybrid Operations
Solovyov, who aligns with Vladimir Putin, frames the war in Ukraine as a proxy conflict with NATO. Despite his calls for severe actions like nuclear strikes, these do not fully reflect the Kremlin’s viewpoint. Recently, Solovyov cited a supposed threat from the West, associating it with European Nazism and Satanism ideologies.
The Russian narrative around Ukraine’s invasion often involves “denazification,” a claim rejected by Kyiv and international observers. Solovyov dismissed the established Russian links to a drone incident near a Ukrainian cargo aircraft at Leipzig/Halle Airport as “laughable.” German officials viewed this incident as part of broader Russian hybrid operations across Europe.
Germany’s government officially attributed the incident to Russia, recognizing that significant damage and fatalities were narrowly avoided.
Armed Conflict Location & Event Data (ACLED) revealed that in 2025, hybrid operations largely targeted Germany, accounting for 35 out of 82 events in Western Europe. Joel Crisetig, an ACLED analyst, noted Moscow’s intensifying hybrid warfare against Germany and other Western European countries.
Norway’s Seizure Incident
Recently, Norway, a NATO member nation, seized the Russian ship Professor Molchanov in the Svalbard archipelago. This resulted from a request by Ukraine’s Naftogaz, which demands compensation following Russia’s 2014 Crimea annexation.
Moscow accused Norway of piracy following this action, while Solovyov condemned the seizure by labeling the perpetrators as “lowlifes” influenced by Ukrainian entities. He suggested deploying Russian Navy and aviation forces to reclaim the vessel, reiterating his defiant stance against NATO.
Solovyov’s remarks highlight rising tensions between Russia and Western entities amid ongoing geopolitical conflicts.
