Kyle Shanahan Addresses Questions on Jed York’s Legal Matters
The San Francisco 49ers initially decided not to comment on owner Jed York’s involvement in a prostitution sting that took place over the weekend, considering the legal matter to be closed. However, this approach was abandoned during coach Kyle Shanahan’s first press conference since the incident.
Shanahan, the first 49ers official to respond to questions about the situation, felt it necessary to provide answers. Despite York’s arrest and subsequent no-contest plea to misdemeanor disorderly conduct and criminal tools charges, Shanahan emphasized that the incident would not impact the team’s operations in the Bay Area.
Shanahan on Team Focus
Shanahan stated, “My view is, as the coach, does it affect us as a team? It has no effect on us. As far as our daily activities and discussions, it hasn’t been mentioned in meetings today. It doesn’t relate to what happens on the field.”
Shanahan was previously involved in a head-on collision in July, affecting his early training camp participation. He assured that neither his personal incident nor York’s legal troubles would distract the team in the upcoming season.
“The one thing that went on yesterday doesn’t seem to pertain to our players much,” Shanahan stated. “And if you guys discuss my car accident, it’s considered humorous that it might distract the team. So, training camp proceeds as usual.”

The arrest of York, who was apprehended by the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force with aid from East Palestine police, led to national headlines. York attempted to solicit a prostitute through a website in Ohio, but unknowingly engaged with the task force instead.
Despite these events, Shanahan maintains his respect for York and his family. He noted, “Obviously, it’s a very tough situation. The organization’s outlook remains unchanged. Despite its freshness, I regard this as an immensely personal matter. I hold great respect for Jed and Danielle. Their family means a lot to me, so I’m striving to keep the matter personal.”
York’s Personal Life
Danielle Belluomini, York’s wife of 15 years, is involved in a reportedly troubled marriage. Reports mention a divorce petition filed by York roughly four months ago, citing “irreconcilable differences.”

Shanahan believes the players are accustomed to dealing with media attention and York’s troubles aren’t unsettling for them. “That’s their career’s routine. Cameras are always on them. After games, when they might feel off or emotionally charged, cameras are present.”
“I believe such situations are easier for them than the deeply personal challenges faced in the heat of battle,” Shanahan remarked.
