San Francisco 49ers Re-Sign Deebo Samuel Amid Training Camp Concerns

The San Francisco 49ers are facing early challenges in their training camp as Ricky Pearsall’s knee injury raises concerns. In response, the team has turned to a familiar face. Deebo Samuel, a former All-Pro wide receiver, has agreed to rejoin the 49ers with a one-year contract worth up to $7 million, according to ESPN.

Samuel’s professional journey in the NFL began with the Bay Area team when the 49ers selected him in the second round of the 2019 draft. During his initial six years with the team, Samuel played a crucial role in helping the 49ers appear in two Super Bowls. His remarkable performance in 2021 saw him achieve All-Pro status, amassing 1,770 yards from scrimmage and scoring 14 touchdowns.

In 2025, Samuel was traded to the Washington Commanders for a fifth-round draft pick. He recorded 72 receptions for 727 yards and five touchdowns during his time with the Commanders last season.

He entered free agency in March and has now returned to the 49ers to bolster their receiving lineup following Pearsall’s injury.
