Sandra Taylor’s Life Journey from Playboy Model to Sommelier

Sandra Taylor, once recognized as one of Hugh Hefner’s most attractive models, has experienced a fascinating journey. Known for her time as a Playboy cover girl in the 1990s, Taylor is now the head sommelier at Allegiant Stadium, home to the Las Vegas Raiders. Her transition into the wine industry marks a significant shift from her previous career in modeling.

During her recent appearance on Kim Alexis’ podcast, “Unexpired,” Taylor reflected on the turning points in her life and career. Her friendship with Anna Nicole Smith played a significant role. As Taylor recalled, the two shared makeup artists, which led to their introduction when Smith arrived from Texas. Their friendship altered Taylor’s career path, especially after a visit to Smith on the set of “Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult.” Smith encouraged Taylor to pursue an opportunity with Playboy during the publication’s 40th anniversary search, launching Taylor’s modeling career.

Taylor shared how unexpected that opportunity was. “I never thought I’d be in Playboy,” she said. Originally, she had aspired to be a mathematician like her father, studying macroeconomics and differential equations before a personal tragedy changed her direction. The sudden passing of her father when she was 19 led her to leave college and reconsider her goals. The strength of her friendship with Smith ultimately guided her to Playboy, shaping her path in the modeling world.

Posing for Playboy was merely the beginning for Taylor. Her relationship with Hugh Hefner expanded beyond the magazine, developing into a lasting friendship until his passing in 2017. Taylor described her experiences with Hefner, noting his generosity and the opportunities that arose from their connection, such as traveling on his personal jet due to her friendship with his wife, Kimberley.

Taylor shared a memorable story of how Traci Bingham from “Baywatch” once told her about Hefner’s admiration for her work in Playboy. This validation from Hefner highlighted the impact she had within the magazine despite thinking he preferred blondes. Such moments, as well as her diverse modeling experiences, including posing alongside Fabio for romance novel covers, enriched her career.

Taylor’s acting career also involved working with prominent directors and actors, including Garry Marshall and Steven Seagal. She recounted how Dan Aykroyd generously paid for her SAG card, reflecting positively on her colleagues’ kindness and support in Hollywood.

Today, Taylor has adjusted to new challenges and roles. After losing her home in the 2025 Palisades Fire, she has embraced her position in the wine industry, even contributing to the creation of Raider Rosé. Despite past trials and triumphs, Taylor remains optimistic and prepared for whatever life presents.
