The weather outside is rainy and windy, making it a perfect day for a fresh edition of Saturday Screencaps. I’m fortunate not to have my assistant, SeanJo, working this weekend.
After a half-day off work on Friday, I joined my text group for a round of golf. The wind was strong, with sustained gusts reaching 20 to 30 mph. By the end of the day, I was ready to be indoors. Despite the conditions, the golf game was enjoyable, and my performance was decent.
American Success in Cannes
In brighter news, American Sydney Thomas made a notable appearance on Friday at the amfAR Gala in Cannes, France. Last week, I mentioned her involvement in celebrity poker as she seeks her place in pop culture. At the gala, Sydney displayed American talent with great poise, reminding everyone of the enduring American excellence at international events.
Sydney turned heads not only at poker tables but also at high-profile events, signaling her rising stardom.
Teaching Responsibility
Brandon S. shared an interesting family moment. Over the weekend, he’s been teaching his nine-year-old how to use a flamethrower to burn weeds. It’s not just about practical skills; it’s training kids to handle household responsibilities. The lesson stems from personal experience. Years ago, after the passing of his father, Brandon had to tackle outdoor chores, an experience he now values as an opportunity for teaching.
Culinary Competitions and Recommendations
Brad S. impressively prepared two slabs of baby-back ribs, using the Meat Church recipe, for the neighborhood rib competition. This contribution kickstarts the Memorial Day weekend festivities.
For those seeking entertainment amidst the rain, Mike T. from Idaho recommends the Netflix documentary on Ulysses S. Grant, which he finds very well-produced.
The Yacht Rock Season
Kevin from Naples comments on the onset of summer and the accompanying Yacht Rock season. Beyond classic hits, he suggests considering darker favorites like ‘Sexy Eyes’ by Dr. Hook and ‘Feels So Good’ by Chuck Mangione. However, Keith Urban’s recent venture into Yacht Rock covers is subject to criticism for lacking originality.
As the rain continues, Saturday presents an opportunity for retail adventures. I plan to purchase a KombiSystem from Stihl, fulfilling my yard equipment requirements. Currently, I have the Stihl trimmer and hedge trimmer; the edger and pole saw will complete my collection.
Enjoy the weekend, and I’ll return with updates on Monday morning.
