Search for Suspect and Second Shooter in Toledo Festival Shooting

Ohio police are actively searching for a 20-year-old suspect in connection to a shooting at a neighborhood festival in Toledo. The incident, which occurred on Saturday, resulted in injuries to 12 people. The Toledo Police Department has identified Ka Nye Taylor as the primary suspect and is also looking for a ‘second shooter.’ Taylor faces 11 counts of felonious assault as per the police statement released on Wednesday. His identification follows detailed investigations and interviews.

An undated booking photo provided by Toledo Police shows Taylor, described as a 5-foot-11 Black man weighing 130 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Authorities have obtained photos of an unidentified second shooter and are requesting public assistance to identify him. Both Crime Stoppers and the U.S. Marshals Service are offering rewards, $10,000 and $5,000 respectively, for tips leading to their arrests.

The shooting took place during the Old West End Festival and was initiated due to a ‘dispute involving two rival groups,’ according to police statements made on Tuesday. The victims varied in age, with the oldest being 61 and the youngest 14 years old, said police Lt. Dan Gerken. Most of those injured were in their early 20s.

Toledo Police Chief Michael Troendle mentioned on Tuesday that while some victims were intentional targets, most were innocent bystanders caught in the crossfire. Investigators estimate that three individuals involved in the dispute were targeted, while nine others were unintended victims. Fortunately, all are expected to recover, and nine have already been released from medical care.

Chief Troendle emphasized that law enforcement is diligently working to piece together the entire sequence of events from Saturday night’s occurrence.
