Senator John Curtis Aims to Investigate Donald Trump Jr. and Hunter Biden

Senate Republican John Curtis from Utah is focusing on Donald Trump Jr. as a new target in tackling corruption. He is urging the Senate Judiciary Committee, led by Chuck Grassley of Iowa, to launch investigations into Trump Jr. and Hunter Biden. Curtis wants them subpoenaed, and he insists they should testify about alleged foreign business dealings and corruption linked to their presidential fathers.

In a letter to Grassley, Curtis emphasized concerns about presidential family members leveraging influence from their politically powerful parents for personal business gains. This issue gained prominence with allegations against Hunter Biden and his father, former President Joe Biden, and now extends to Trump Jr. following reports of his luxurious wedding after-party on a private island financed by a Russian oligarch.

“A toaster is a wedding gift,” Curtis remarked on social media, underscoring his letter. “A private-island party paid for by a Putin-connected oligarch is something else. Republicans nearly wore out the subpoena machine investigating Hunter Biden’s foreign relationships. We should not unplug it now. ‘Trust us’ was not enough then, and it is not enough now.”

Curtis’s letter also highlights issues surrounding Trump Jr.’s active involvement in family-backed cryptocurrency ventures, international real estate deals involving direct meetings with foreign leaders, and investments in defense contracting with significant financial ties to platforms dependent on federal regulatory decisions.

The wedding party in May, initially reported by ProPublica, was allegedly funded by a Russian oligarch with close Putin connections, whom Trump Jr. had recently met. This oligarch is linked to the controversial International Boxing Association, partially funded by the Russian state energy firm Gazprom.

Trump Jr. has played a crucial role in enhancing his father’s wealth. Between 2024 and 2025, the president’s income surged by approximately 250%, moving from just over $620 million to about $2.2 billion. This increase is largely attributed to his cryptocurrency ventures managed by his sons, based on financial disclosure forms reviewed by Fox News Digital.

Curtis pointed out that nearly 75% of Americans view the federal government as corrupt, suggesting that tackling corruption should transcend party lines.

“The nation should not accept different standards for Republican and Democratic presidential families,” Curtis stated. “Nor should congressional oversight cease when the White House’s party affiliation changes.”

Republicans have repeatedly investigated Hunter Biden’s business activities and potential involvement of former President Joe Biden. Although Biden has denied his participation in his son’s dealings, Curtis argues that Biden’s presidency provided opportunities that may not have been available otherwise.

He asserts the same principle applies to Trump Jr., citing concerns over foreign access to a sitting president’s family, which could create expectations of preferential treatment. Such dynamics might pose risks not aligned with American interests and national security.

Fox News Digital did not immediately receive responses from the Trump Organization, the White House, or Hunter Biden regarding the matter. Alex Miller is a journalist at Fox News Digital specializing in U.S. Senate coverage.
