Federal immigration agents have been reportedly arresting parents at school bus stops in a Connecticut town known for its large immigrant population. This information comes from Democratic Senator Chris Murphy.

Murphy wrote on X. He further alleged, ICE waited until the kids were on the bus so when they are dropped off at the end of the day, they are alone, scared to death they can’t find their parents. I’m heading to Danbury.
Murphy has yet to provide evidence to substantiate claims that agents deliberately waited for children to board buses before proceeding with arrests. Newsweek has sought comments from both the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
The controversy arose following a video posted by the Greater Danbury Area Unites for Immigrants on Facebook. The footage appears to capture a school bus journey in Danbury during an ICE enforcement operation. In the video, several vehicles resembling law enforcement models navigate residential areas. Voices on the bus are heard urging others to record the situation and pointing out the vehicles as belonging to ICE.
The advocacy group claimed that ICE took 48 individuals into custody over three days, including 22 arrests on the second day of the local school year. We have eyewitness accounts of ICE circling around bus stops as kids were getting off the bus home from school. Kids were afraid to get off the bus and to walk home. Families are scared to walk their children to school and are keeping them home,
the group stated.
Danbury, located in western Connecticut, hosts a substantial immigrant community. According to U.S. Census Bureau estimates for 2020-2024, about 35 percent of its residents were born outside the United States.
