Spencer Pratt, a former reality TV star, is gaining significant financial backing from notable figures such as Jeanie Buss and Elliot Grainge ahead of the Los Angeles mayoral primary elections. According to the New York Times, prominent donors have contributed to Pratt’s campaign since May 1, with Buss and Grainge among those supporting his candidacy.

Pratt’s campaign has gathered momentum following a successful mayoral debate against incumbent Karen Bass and L.A. City Council Member Nithya Raman, coupled with a series of viral ads. He has raised over $500,000, placing second in the polls behind Bass before the June 2 primary.

Key Supporters of Pratt’s Campaign

Jeanie Buss, the governor and part-owner of the Los Angeles Lakers, has donated $1,800, the maximum allowed amount, reflecting increased interest in Pratt’s campaign. Although she has not publicly endorsed him, Buss’s contribution places her among the many entertainment industry supporters.

Elliot Grainge, CEO of Atlantic Records and husband of Sofia Richie, has joined the list of entertainment figures backing Pratt. Grainge, founder of 10K Projects and son of Universal Music Group CEO Lucian Grainge, supports Pratt alongside his father.

Billionaire financier Dan Loeb, a local Los Angeles figure, signals broader business support for Pratt’s campaign. Other notable business leaders include Bobby Kotick, former CEO of Activision Blizzard, and twins Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, cryptocurrency entrepreneurs who founded the Gemini crypto exchange.

Influential donors also encompass Haim and Cheryl Saban from the entertainment industry, emphasizing Pratt’s appeal among Hollywood and Democratic political fundraising circles. Their support highlights wealthy donors’ dissatisfaction with current city leadership.

Jeffrey Sprecher, CEO of Intercontinental Exchange and chairman of the New York Stock Exchange, also supports Pratt, along with Jamie Siminoff, founder of Amazon’s home security division Ring. Mark Pincus, founder of mobile game company Zynga, and Sean Rad, co-founder of Tinder, are among the tech entrepreneurs backing Pratt.

Val Blavatnik, director of Warner Music Group, reflects the fusion of entertainment and business world support. Nicole Avant, producer, Democratic fund-raiser, and wife of Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos, is also reportedly planning to assist Pratt’s campaign.
