Before they became famous, several celebrities held everyday jobs at America’s chain restaurants. Nicki Minaj and Anna Nicole Smith are among those who worked at Red Lobster.

Nicki Minaj worked at several Red Lobster locations before rising to fame. She shared her experiences as a waitress during an appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”

“If you’ve ever eaten at Red Lobster, I probably took your order,” Minaj quipped, noting it motivated her to pursue her dreams.

Her successful debut album, “Pink Friday,” included the hit “Super Bass,” and she became the best-selling female rapper with over 100 million records sold worldwide.

Anna Nicole Smith

Anna Nicole Smith worked at Red Lobster to support herself and her son Daniel. Her mother, Virgie Arthur, recalled Smith taking up the job as a young mother.

Smith moved on to work as an exotic dancer, which eventually led her to meet billionaire J. Howard Marshall, who helped her transition to modeling.

Chris Rock spent his teenage years as a dishwasher at Red Lobster in New York. He mentioned his experience in his HBO special “Kill the Messenger.”

“They kept me in the back because I had bad teeth,” Rock joked, emphasizing the challenges of his job.

Jonathan Majors worked at Red Lobster and Olive Garden while homeless in his teens. He shared these struggles while hosting “Saturday Night Live” in 2021.

“Many stars started their careers at the restaurant,” he joked, highlighting the persistence Red Lobster instilled in him.

Despite finding success in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Majors’ career faced challenges after a legal issue in 2023.

Jamie Kennedy

Jamie Kennedy described his Red Lobster job as formative. He began working there at 16 and later transferred to a Los Angeles location while pursuing an acting career.

Kennedy later gained recognition for his role as Randy Meeks in the 1996 film “Scream.”
