Steve Doocy Interviews Matt Rife About His Comedy Journey

Fox News’ Steve Doocy recently interviewed comedian Matt Rife during a tour stop. They discussed Rife’s comedy career, the impact of viral TikTok clips, his faith, and experiences performing for large audiences.

Rife appeared on “Fox & Friends” and shared how social media has revolutionized entry into the comedy world. He explained that posting viral clips on TikTok accomplished what traditional routes in the industry could not.

Originally from Ohio, Rife moved to Los Angeles expecting to become a regular at well-known comedy clubs like the Laugh Factory, Comedy Store, and Improv. He hoped talent scouts would notice, leading to TV appearances or sitcom roles. However, after initial success on MTV’s “Wild ‘N Out,” his career stalled until social media gave it new life.

Rife discussed his early days in Los Angeles, where he earned between $40,000 and $60,000 annually, placing him in the “very low income” bracket per the Los Angeles County Development Authority’s standards. His discovery of TikTok was a turning point.

Despite initially disliking TikTok, Rife’s account skyrocketed to 20.3 million followers. His success on the platform helped increase his net worth to an estimated $40-50 million.

Rife’s achievements include a starring role alongside Owen Wilson in the upcoming movie “Rolling Loud: The Movie,” set to release on October 2. He expressed admiration for Wilson, citing him as an inspiration and calling the role a dream opportunity.
