A storm on Tuesday disrupted public transportation across Northwest Indiana. The Gary Public Transportation Corp. halted all services for Wednesday, affecting its Access219 paratransit service as well.
The Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District announced that the South Shore Line would run on a ‘significantly limited schedule’ on Wednesday. Passengers should expect substantial delays and longer travel times as repair crews work to address weather-related damage and restore power along the train routes. Additional cancellations remain a possibility.
Limited shuttle services will be available between Hammond Gateway and Munster/Dyer within the Monon Corridor. A statement from the railroad emphasized that the limited operating plan does not reflect the regular South Shore Line service.
