Supreme Court Prepares to Announce Major Decisions

The Supreme Court is concluding its term and will announce over a dozen final opinions in the coming weeks. Decisions include key issues such as birthright citizenship, the Federal Reserve’s leadership, and policies affecting transgender athletes.

The justices aim to finalize cases challenging the Trump administration’s efforts to increase presidential power and reorganize the federal bureaucracy. This will occur before their annual summer break.

One major decision will determine if President Trump can end birthright citizenship for children born in the U.S. to undocumented immigrants. Another decision involves potential changes in the Federal Reserve’s leadership structure, particularly concerning Lisa D. Cook.

Earlier in the year, the court annulled extensive tariffs imposed by President Trump on imports from major trading partners. Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. and Trump-nominated justices sided with three Democratic appointees for this decision. President Trump condemned this ruling and criticized the justices involved.

The president has expressed concern about the birthright citizenship case, having attended oral arguments in April—a rare occurrence for a sitting president. He later critiqued the questioning during the proceedings on social media.
