The Doobie Brothers are remembering Walter Parazaider, a founding member of Chicago, who passed away last week at 81 years old. The band expressed their farewell to their ‘good friend’ on social media. Their relationship with the band Chicago began in the early 1970s when they performed multiple shows together.
In their message, The Doobie Brothers emphasized the strong friendships they built with Chicago. ‘We became good friends with all the members, exchanging phone numbers, addresses, and emails,’ they wrote. ‘Walt was always among the first to greet everyone warmly at venues, offering a hug and a smile.’
The group shared personal anecdotes, highlighting Parazaider’s joyful disposition. ‘He always picked up the phone when you called, making you feel he was genuinely happy to hear from you. Occasionally, he’d call just to check in and let you know he was thinking of you,’ they shared.
The Doobie Brothers described him as ‘a truly authentic, warm person with a heart as big as the ocean.’ They felt grateful for the fond memories and the substantial music legacy Parazaider left behind.
They expressed their condolences to his wife and family and extended their sympathy to his bandmates. ‘He blessed us all with his presence and is forever in our hearts.’
