The University of Alaska Anchorage Testing Center was more than a space with computer desks. Its significance extended beyond its physical setup, influencing many lives through its services.
News of the Center’s permanent closure didn’t come through official channels. It reached me unexpectedly during a quiet summer. I was chaperoning my 14-year-old son to take an exam for college credit, when the closure was mentioned. This moment was pivotal for understanding the local impact of such facilities.
Observing a young person embrace opportunities to step up and realize their potential is inspiring. It’s a clear demonstration of what access to local resources can do, driving growth and empowerment for the youth.
