Three individuals lost their lives when a gunman opened fire at an In-N-Out Burger in Idaho. Among the deceased were a restaurant employee and a local man dedicated to helping others achieve sobriety. Authorities identified the victims as Ashley Garibay, 23, from Stockton, California, Dale Schultz, 66, from Salt Lake City, and Christopher Claunch, 59, from Hagerman, Idaho. The shooter was a 24-year-old, acting independently, though the motive remains unclear.
Community Vigil Honors Victims
Hundreds of residents gathered in Twin Falls to honor the victims. Participants held candles and roses, and many wrote heartfelt notes on large blue hearts displayed on crosses. Residents stood together in support, reflecting the community’s strength during difficult times.
“We are strong as a community and we come together in hard times,” Teresa Yocham, a Twin Falls resident, expressed at the vigil.
The In-N-Out location where the incident occurred had opened recently, marking the chain’s expansion into Idaho. Garibay, who was passionate about her work, aspired to manage one of the restaurants. Her family described her as adventurous and driven, always lighting up a room.
Christopher Claunch was known for helping others in their recovery journey. A friend, Garren Taylor, highlighted Claunch’s dedication to assisting individuals with sobriety. He was not motivated by money but by the opportunity to help others each day.
Dale Schultz, a gifted artist and well-loved community member, was mourned by friends and family. His wife was injured during the shooting and remains hospitalized. The community continues to offer prayers and support for her recovery.

On the day of the attack, Chad Williams, identified as the gunman, took his own life after unleashing chaos at the restaurant. The scene inside was frantic, with customers and employees rushing for safety. Witnesses reported panic both inside and outside the restaurant.
A woman and her mother witnessed people fleeing while queued in the drive-thru. Meanwhile, traffic was disrupted as individuals sought safety. An off-duty state trooper and a civilian intervened, directing the gunman away from the area.
Among the injured was Steven Pixley, who was shot while on his motorcycle. He suffered significant injuries to his arm, affecting his fingers, and awaits surgery. Despite the severity, Pixley maintains a positive outlook, supported by family and friends.
Police have launched a support center for those impacted by the tragedy, and flags in the city will remain at half-staff for the coming week, as the community mourns these senseless losses.
