Trader Joe’s, a beloved grocery store chain, is set to open 30 new stores across 16 states. This week’s openings include locations in Anaheim Hills, California, and West Jordan, Utah, as stated on the company’s website. The remaining 28 locations, spanning states from Arizona to Washington, are listed as ‘coming soon.’
A spokesperson from Trader Joe’s mentioned that new stores typically appear on the list three to six months before their expected openings. Among the newest additions are sites in Bend, Oregon; Boynton Beach, Florida; and Phoenix, which are expected to open their doors in 2027 according to local and national reports.
Currently, there are 28 Trader Joe’s locations marked as ‘coming soon’ across 15 states. Illinois stands out with the most upcoming locations, with four stores planned in Oswego, Chicago, and Joliet. Other states with multiple new stores include California, Florida, and Texas, each expecting three new openings. States like Arizona, New Jersey, New York, and Washington have two upcoming locations each, while Colorado, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio, and Oregon each will have one new store.
Trader Joe’s is known for its private-label products and seasonal favorites, attracting customers with items like Apple Cider Donuts and affordable skincare considered ‘dupes’ for high-end brands. The store also recently gained attention with its $2.99 mini canvas totes, which have become highly sought after.
The grocery chain has approximately 660 stores nationwide. Shoppers are encouraged to stay updated on store-opening announcements as the company continues to reveal opening dates for further locations.
Trader Joe’s aims to continuously grow, providing delicious products at excellent value. This growth has been a part of its strategy since its founding in 1967 by Joe Coulombe in Pasadena, California.
According to Entrepreneur magazine editor-in-chief Jason Feifer, the company’s cautious expansion approach helps keep prices low while maintaining its unique in-store experience. The focus remains on real estate and supply chain efficiency, contributing to the store’s distinctive ‘treasure hunt’ feel.
