A tragic incident in Oklahoma has left TikTok influencer Sara Gilson, also known as Sara Duffey, and her estranged husband, Jeremiah “Shawn” Duffey, dead in what authorities believe was a murder-suicide.
Weeks prior to the incident, Gilson publicly accused her husband of being a pedophile through a TikTok video posted on July 11. In it, she referenced a potential Netflix documentary about her soon-to-be ex-husband. This video remained on her account before the shocking events unfolded.
Sara Gilson, 41, had recently filed a protective order against 48-year-old Duffey. This came after accusations of sexual misconduct involving a minor. On July 24, police responded to a distressing domestic call at her home. Both Gilson and Duffey were found dead from gunshot wounds.
Local news station KTUL reported that a family member identified the two victims. Shawn Duffey allegedly broke into the home, killed Sara, and then committed suicide. Authorities confirmed the identities of the couple but have yet to officially label the incident a murder-suicide. KRMG reassured the public that there was no ongoing threat.
The local outlets revealed that the 911 call originated from a juvenile within the house. The protective order against Duffey required him to maintain a distance of at least 100 yards from Gilson. This order had been put in place on June 10, the same day another woman accused Duffey of inappropriate behavior with her 15-year-old daughter.
According to The Oklahoman, Duffey, a youth basketball coach, was seen “kissing and fondling” the girl. Reports indicate he had sent inappropriate messages and given her money to silence her. The Owasso Police Department was notified about these allegations.
Gilson had previously filed two protective orders against Duffey, both of which were dismissed after she did not attend the hearings. The couple shared children together.
Fox News Digital has reached out to the Owasso Police Department for further details.
