On Wednesday, a tragic incident at an in-home daycare near Minneapolis resulted in the deaths of three individuals, including a child, in what police have classified as a domestic-related homicide. This occurred around 9 a.m. at Brown Bear Daycare, as reported by Fox 9 Minneapolis-St. Paul.

According to Hopkins Police Chief Brent Johnson, authorities responded to a reported domestic situation and found a man, woman, and child deceased at the location. The victims are believed to be related family members. Fortunately, six other children present at the daycare at that time were unharmed and safely reunited with their families.
There’s no worse scenario than this, where you drop off your child to somewhere you think is safe, and you get that phone call,” Chief Johnson stated. “I think we can all relate, those who have children and those who don’t. This is just a tragic situation anywhere in the world, let alone here in Hopkins.
A parent who arrived at the daycare to drop off a child reportedly called the police, and investigators suspect that this parent witnessed the tragic incident.
The Hopkins Police Department later issued a statement to Fox News Digital, indicating their response to a stabbing report at the daycare located on the 200 block of Tyler Avenue North in Hopkins. Police assured the community that there are no outstanding suspects and no existing threat to the public.
Johnson mentioned that investigators believe the deceased male was the perpetrator and possibly took his own life during the incident.
The Mayor of Minneapolis, Jacob Frey, expressed his condolences, saying that the city stands by Hopkins in dealing with this tragedy. “I have already touched base directly with Hanlon and offer any assistance we can provide,” he noted.
Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty added, “We’re aware of this morning’s tragic and devastating incident in Hopkins and are working with Hopkins Police as they investigate. Our office’s victim services division is prepared to support the individuals impacted by this incident.”
