The U.S. Interior Department has not approved over 130 partnership agreements involving national parks. These projects, valued at more than $25 million, involve activities like sled dog care, burial mound protection, and fire preparedness.
Documents reviewed by The Washington Post reveal that the blocked initiatives were intended for some of the country’s most popular parks. These parks include locations in California, Iowa, and Alaska, where secured funding was allocated for vital work.
This action affects numerous parks, which had planned for projects such as enhancing fire preparedness in California, protecting prehistoric mounds in Iowa, and caring for sled dogs in Alaska. The decision to block these projects comes during the Trump administration.
