Resurgence of a Long-Standing Feud
President Donald Trump has reignited his long-standing rivalry with comedian Rosie O’Donnell. The latest turn in this feud began after O’Donnell commented on Trump’s health, suggesting he appeared unwell during an interview on the podcast ‘On With Kara Swisher’. In response, Trump shared an AI-generated image mocking O’Donnell on Truth Social.
The image portrays O’Donnell in a medical setting, with a doctor resembling Trump holding a clipboard for a fictional “Trump Derangement Syndrome Assessment.” The symptoms listed include “irrational rage,” “obsessive Trump fixation,” and “meltdown triggered by Trump news.” This post seemed to address O’Donnell’s earlier remarks about Trump’s health.
O’Donnell’s Remarks on Trump’s Health
During the podcast, O’Donnell questioned Trump’s fitness, suggesting he appeared “physically ill.” Host Kara Swisher mentioned that people were growing tired of Trump, to which O’Donnell added concerns about his health and control over nuclear codes.
These comments followed a report from the president, declaring he is in “excellent health” following his annual medical check-up. The report included a memo by Captain Sean Barbabella affirming Trump’s strong cardiac, pulmonary, and neurological function. However, in July 2025, Trump was diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, leading to some public speculation about his health.
Using Familiar Rhetoric
Trump’s use of the term “Trump Derangement Syndrome” is a recurring tactic. His supporters often use the phrase to describe opposition to Trump as irrational. However, critics argue that it is used to dismiss valid criticism.
This isn’t the first time Trump has used AI-generated content to mock political opponents. The latest post about O’Donnell aligns with past behavior of using digital content to ridicule critics and media figures.
A Feud That Spans Decades
The tension between Trump and O’Donnell dates back to 2006, when O’Donnell criticized Trump on ‘The View’ regarding the Miss USA controversy. Trump’s response included numerous media insults, solidifying their dispute.
This rivalry gained momentum during the 2016 Republican primary campaign when debate moderator Megyn Kelly questioned Trump about derogatory remarks towards women. Trump deflected the question by stating some comments were aimed at O’Donnell, adding fuel to their ongoing conflict.
Both parties have frequently exchanged insults through media appearances and social media platforms, keeping their feud alive in public discourse.
