Trump to Headline America’s 250th Anniversary Celebration Amid Artist Withdrawals

The upcoming celebration of the United States’ 250th anniversary, known as “The Great American State Fair,” has seen several musical acts withdraw due to its association with former President Donald Trump. Now, Trump himself is set to take center stage at the event, according to organizers.

On his social media platform Truth Social, Trump remarked about the artists’ withdrawals, mentioning he was considering participating as a replacement. He described himself as “the man who some say is the Greatest President in History (THE GOAT!), DONALD J. TRUMP.”

The group behind the event, Freedom 250, confirmed Trump’s involvement. A statement noted, “We are excited to announce that President Trump will personally kick off this historic celebration on Wednesday, June 24.” However, discrepancies arose as Trump’s social media references to the event were vague about the exact date. The White House has not clarified the details.

Danielle Alvarez, a spokesperson for Freedom 250, highlighted that the fair will take place from June 25 to July 10. It aims to offer a variety of attractions, including exhibits, entertainment, musical performances, and flyovers, catering to families and attendees of all ages.

In his response to the artists backing out, Trump suggested canceling the acts, recommending, “We should have a giant MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN RALLY, for 250, instead of having overpriced singers, who nobody wants to hear, whose music is boring, and yet who do nothing but complain.” Despite its nonpartisan billing, Freedom 250 was initiated last year by Trump and is led by a former appointee from his administration. Some artists, like Bret Michaels, the Commodores, and Martina McBride, withdrew last week, citing concerns over the event’s political nature.

Martina McBride explained on Instagram that she was initially offered a spot at a nonpartisan event, but felt misguided by how it was presented. Despite these withdrawals, other artists such as Flo Rida, Fab Morvan of Milli Vanilli, and Vanilla Ice, plan to participate. Vanilla Ice’s representative stated that the artist is “proud to help celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary!”
