The role of White House press secretary remains vacant, yet Donald Trump has added Beni Rae Harmony to his communications team as an assistant press secretary. Harmony, a 24-year-old former journalist, joins the team amid much attention and debate.
The president has not yet appointed a new press secretary to replace Karoline Leavitt, who resigned in August. Harmony’s appointment has sparked conversation, especially after a 2021 holiday photograph of hers emerged on social media. The image shows her wearing a T-shirt with an expletive directed at Joe Biden and holding a rifle.
On social media platform X, Harmony confirmed her new role, stating, “I’m looking forward to this next chapter – serving the American people and continuing to fight for the American Dream. America First.”
Who Is Beni Rae Harmony?
Harmony previously worked as a senior correspondent for Real America’s Voice, a platform initially linked to Trump’s former adviser Steve Bannon. Her LinkedIn profile lists past roles as a press aide for Jack Posobiec and as a deputy press secretary for Republican Congressmen Paul Gosar and Matt Gaetz.
Her journalistic work for Real America’s Voice included accompanying Trump on numerous trips, even recently covering his trip to Ireland. On returning from this trip, a photo on Air Force One showed a paper with Harmony’s name prominently displayed.
Harmony is active on social media, having amassed over 77,000 followers on Instagram. She frequently shared content about her travels and coverage of Trump’s events. Her hiring comes at a strained time for Trump’s administration and their interactions with the press. Recently, Trump attempted to ban outlets such as CNN and Politico from the White House, a move that was later blocked by a federal judge. Tensions continue, notably in his dealings with female journalists.
Why a 2021 Photo of Harmony Is Going Viral
Soon after Harmony revealed her White House role, her past social media posts resurfaced. A Christmas photograph from 2021 drew particular interest. In the picture, Harmony is with a relative, wearing a T-shirt bearing “F*** Joe Biden.” Former Republican House candidate Jarome Bell shared the image on Instagram with the caption highlighting her role in his campaign.
Harmony appeared to validate the picture’s authenticity. She shared a similar photo of herself in that T-shirt in 2021. In a response to social media inquiries, she identified the relative in the image as her uncle.
Harmony previously seized right-wing attention in 2025 with an emotional tribute to Charlie Kirk, a prominent figure in conservative circles. In her speech, she recognized Kirk’s influence and support. At the time, she worked at WICS NewsChannel 20 in Illinois. Although she later claimed suspension over the tribute, the station’s news director, Heather Nodine, denied this, stating Harmony was not suspended and was never officially part of their news department.
Both Harmony, via X, and the White House, through email, have been approached for further comment.
