Tucker Carlson Plans to Form a New Political Party

Tucker Carlson, a notable conservative media commentator, announced intentions to help establish a new political party. This decision follows his break with the Republican Party over issues related to the war with Iran. Despite this shift, Carlson has no desire to run for public office.

Carlson, once a staunch ally of President Trump, revealed his plans during an interview with the Columbia Journalism Review. He stated, “There should be a good-faith effort to figure out what benefits the country.” This remark highlights his aim to create a third party focused on national interests.

The announcement comes at a turbulent time for both major parties. Within the Democratic Party, the left wing is gaining traction, driven by frustrations over the leadership’s stance on Israel following the Gaza conflict. Similarly, the Republican Party faces division over Trump’s approach to the Iran war.

Last month, Carlson, known for his popular podcast and previous role as a Fox News host, declared his departure from the Republican Party. He had been a “consistent defender” of the party for 35 years but now claims it has drifted from “America first” ideals under Trump’s leadership.

In the interview with Columbia Journalism Review, Carlson outlined some fundamental policies for his envisioned party. He advocates for “ending all immigration,” reflecting his long-standing nativist views. Carlson argues that immigration contributes to unemployment, a perspective many economists dispute.
