Two Shootings in West Garfield Park Injure Seven

Seven individuals sustained injuries in two separate shootings on the same block early Sunday morning in West Garfield Park, according to Chicago police. The majority of the victims were teenagers.

The first incident occurred around 1:25 a.m. on the 3800 block of W. Maypole Ave., where a 17-year-old girl was shot in the chest. She was taken to Stroger Hospital and remains in critical condition.

Shortly after, at approximately 1:34 a.m., another shooting on the same block injured six people. This group, mainly composed of teenagers, was outside when gunshots rang out. The victims include two 17-year-old boys, an 18-year-old woman, an 18-year-old man, a 19-year-old man, and a 20-year-old man. All are currently in good condition at Stroger and Mt. Sinai hospitals.

Additionally, a separate incident found a 33-year-old man with gunshot wounds about a mile away on the 4300 block of W. Van Buren St. around 1:48 a.m. He was transported to Stroger Hospital in critical condition but was later pronounced dead.

Area Four Detectives are conducting an investigation into these incidents.
