The University of Washington has canceled a scheduled lecture featuring progressive Twitch commentator Hasan Piker. The event, part of the school’s 2026-27 Speaker Series, was canceled due to a flawed planning process, according to university officials.

Piker, a well-known far-left streamer and YouTuber, was expected to speak in January. The university explained that after reviewing the organization process for the event, they concluded it didn’t meet their required standards for the Speaker Series.

Veteran Democratic strategist James Carville voiced opposition to Piker, cautioning about the impact of his rhetoric on the Democratic Party.
