Vice President JD Vance arrived in Switzerland on Sunday to initiate a new round of negotiations with Iran. This effort supports the Trump administration’s push for a lasting agreement following a recent ceasefire.
Vance landed shortly before 6 a.m. local time and is set to join White House envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump’s son-in-law, for the discussions. Swiss officials confirmed that the Iranian delegation had arrived and were heading to Bürgenstock for the talks.
Originally scheduled for Friday, the negotiations involving the U.S., Iran, Qatar, and Pakistan faced a delay. Switzerland’s foreign ministry announced the postponement.

These negotiations follow a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed by Trump and Iran after the G7 summit at the Palace of Versailles. It established a 60-day ceasefire and set the stage for broader negotiations aimed at resolving the conflict.
Trump cautioned via Truth Social that the U.S. could impose tolls in the Strait of Hormuz if no lasting agreement is reached before the ceasefire ends.
