Usha Vance recently shared the joys of motherhood after the birth of her fourth child with Vice President JD Vance during an interview with Fox News Digital. The interview coincided with the release of a new episode of her podcast, “Storytime with the Second Lady.”
Discussing life with four children, Usha expressed her delight in watching her older kids bond with their new brother. “It’s been lovely,” she stated from the Vice President’s Residence. Her children enjoy helping with their baby brother, Alec Neel Vance, born on July 19, 2026.
The Vances announced their son’s birth on Instagram, saying, “Usha and the baby are happy and healthy, and our kids are overjoyed to meet their little brother.” The family includes children Ewan, Vivek, Mirabel, and newborn Alec.

Usha emphasizes spending individual time with each child. “We do something daily,” she explained. Recently, she took her middle child to a bookstore and lunch. “They feel like they’re getting their own personal time,” she added.
Initially, Usha felt anxious about adding another child. “My family felt complete,” she recalled. But now, she’s content with their decision, saying the family dynamic has only improved.
Her podcast, “Storytime with the Second Lady,” aims to encourage children’s literacy. The latest episode features author Jackie Oshry. Usha hopes the podcast inspires kids to create their own stories. “Reading has long been one of my favorite hobbies,” she said, explaining her focus on literacy as a second lady.
Through the White House Summer Reading Challenge, she urges children to read 12 books by the end of August. Completing the challenge enters families into a drawing for prizes, including a White House visit.
In preparation for the school year, the Vances collect supplies and organize clothing. Usha aims to make it a celebratory time, easing the transition back to early morning routines.
President Donald Trump congratulated the Vance family on their new addition, describing Alec as a “perfect baby boy.”
