Vanessa Trump, the former wife of Donald Trump Jr., revealed through an Instagram story on Wednesday her diagnosis with breast cancer.
In her post, she shared, “I want to share a personal health update. I’ve recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. While this isn’t news anyone expects, I’m working closely with my medical team on a treatment plan.”
The 48-year-old mother of five expressed gratitude, saying, “I would like to thank my doctors for performing a procedure earlier this week on me. I am staying focused and hopeful while surrounded by the love and support of my family, my kids, and those closest to me.” She concluded by asking for privacy, “Thank you for your kindness and support it truly means more than I can express. I kindly ask for privacy as I focus on my health and recovery. -Vanessa”
Ivanka Trump, Vanessa’s former sister-in-law, responded supportively on Instagram, “Praying for your continued strength and a swift recovery. Love you mama.”
Accompanying Vanessa’s diagnosis is the mention of her boyfriend, Tiger Woods, who recently returned from a rehabilitation stay in Switzerland. Woods was involved in a car accident in Florida and faced charges of DUI and refusal to submit to a urine test, to which he pleaded not guilty on March 31.
Vanessa was introduced to Donald Trump Jr. by former President Donald Trump at a fashion show. They married in 2005 and divorced in 2018. The couple shares five children: Kai, 19; Donald III, 17; Tristan, 14; Spencer, 13; and Chloe, 11. Kai has recently gained attention as a social media figure and competitive golfer.
Earlier this month, Kai expressed love for her mother in a Mother’s Day tribute on Instagram, writing, “Happy Mother’s Day to the best Mom I could ever ask for. I’m so thankful and lucky to have you in my life. Thank you for always supporting me and loving your 5 kids. You are such an amazing Mom and we are all so lucky to have you. I appreciate you more than anything ❤️”
In related news, Susie Wiles, Trump’s chief of staff, announced her own breast cancer diagnosis in March. She highlighted, “Last week, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Nearly one in eight women in the United States will face this diagnosis. Every day, these women continue to raise their families, go to work, and serve their communities with strength and determination. I now join their ranks. I am grateful to have an outstanding team of doctors who detected the cancer early and are guiding my care, and I am encouraged by a very good prognosis. I am also deeply thankful for the support and encouragement of President Trump as I undergo treatment and continue serving in my role as White House Chief of Staff.”
