A viral confrontation involving a school district employee in Washington has prompted a review. The incident involved a nurse from Eastlake High School, identified as Kelsey Ballin, who was recorded in a controversial moment concerning Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA. The video shows Ballin at a farmer’s market, in which she reportedly comments about Kirk’s death and displays obscene gestures.
The Lake Washington School District acknowledged the video on social media and is investigating the situation. A spokesperson conveyed that the expressed views do not align with the district’s values, adding, “Lake Washington School District (LWSD) is aware of the video circulating on social media involving a district staff member. We have received concerns from community members regarding the statements and conduct shown in the video.”
“The district takes these concerns seriously,” the spokesperson continued. “While we cannot comment on individual personnel matters, district leadership has initiated a review of the circumstances surrounding this incident and will follow established processes as the review moves forward.”
Kirk was assassinated on September 10, while speaking at Utah Valley University during his “American Comeback Tour.” The alleged shooter, Tyler Robinson, is accused of fatally shooting Kirk at the event. In response to the video, LWSD emphasized its commitment to creating welcoming environments, stating, “LWSD is committed to providing welcoming, safe and inclusive learning environments for all students, families, staff, and community members. We expect all employees to uphold the professional standards and the values of the district and to contribute to a culture of respect, dignity, and civil discourse.”
The district highlighted that while employees retain rights as private citizens, balancing these rights with professional responsibilities is essential. As the review continues, the district aims to adhere to its principles. Moreover, the district’s spokesperson mentioned policies related to employees’ conduct outside of work and on social media, directing inquiries to existing staff policies and guidelines.
Fox News Digital attempted to reach Ballin for comments, but additional information couldn’t be provided as it remains an ongoing personnel matter. Turning Point USA’s reaction was via an X post from spokesperson Andrew Kolvet, who reshared the original video and questioned why negative individuals are attracted to roles involving children, schools, and medicine.
