Disneyland faced an unexpected challenge on Tuesday due to a citywide water pressure outage in Anaheim, California. This disruption led to the temporary closure of restrooms and restaurants throughout the park.
The outage began around 6 p.m. PDT and also affected nearby businesses and Angel Stadium. Disneyland’s operations were briefly impacted, but staff quickly responded to manage the situation for guests.
City officials attributed the issue to technical problems with several groundwater wells. Approximately 75% of Anaheim’s water supply comes from these wells, while the remaining 25% is sourced from the Colorado River. Four groundwater wells were specifically affected by the outage.
An Anaheim city representative confirmed that the problem was resolved by 8 p.m. local time. There are no ongoing concerns about the water supply according to the spokesperson.
Tiffany Christensen, a Disneyland guest, shared her experience with local outlet KTLA. She highlighted the chaos but noted that Disney handled the situation well. While many guests understood the issue was beyond Disney’s control, some expressed frustration over the inconvenience.
Discussions on a Disneyland subreddit reflected similar sentiments. Users commented on the closures, with one remarking, “That’s going to get bad real fast.” Another noted the situation as “almost unimaginable.”
Despite the quick resolution, not everyone was satisfied. Some guests decided to leave the park and considered requesting refunds.
This Disneyland disruption followed another California water shortage affecting public restrooms along Highway 101. The California Department of Transportation closed the Gaviota Roadside Rest Areas due to this shortage, with closures expected to last through October 1.
